We match startups with talented UC College of Law San Francisco students who provide expert legal assistance, all while gaining invaluable knowledge and experience. Our network of partnerships ensures a steady stream of innovative companies and talented legal supervisors. The Startup Legal Garage is part of UC Law SF’s commitment to rebooting legal education. We want to create the active classroom, a wonderful program where our students get exposure to real life clients and real life problems.”

Professor Feldman is the Arthur J. Goldberg Distinguished Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Innovation at the University of California College of the Law San Francisco. She is an author of four books and an award-winning scholar with more than 80 articles in law journals including Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, the American Economic Review and the New England Journal of Medicine. Professor Feldman testifies frequently before Congress and federal and state agencies. Her empirical work has been cited by the White House, along with numerous courts and agencies.

Paul Belonick

Professor Belonick is Professor of Practice, the Director of the Startup Legal Garage and the Faculty Assistant Director for Center for Innovation. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2010, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Virginia Law Review.  He has practiced at both small and internationally-recognized firms, in areas ranging from criminal and family law to mass torts and securities and business litigation. He also holds a doctorate in History from the University of Virginia.
